In 2010 Kerberos Consulting of Nesconset New York launched our PC’s For Patients program.

While still in its infant stages, our goal is to refurbish old unwanted laptops and outfit them with webcams so patients in long term care situations can keep in touch with their loved ones during their hospital stays.
The idea for the program was conceived while Chief Technology Officer Anthony LaRosa’s wife Kerry battled Leukemia at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.
Kerry was a patient at the hospital for two month long stays. During her stay the ability to use her laptop and webcam to communicate with her family, especially her then 18 month old son was key to keeping her spirits up during her recovery.
While working toward a full recovery Kerry has interfaced with the Hospital staff to try and get laptops to those who can use them. We are proud to say that we were recently able to donate our first two laptops to the Bone Marrow Transplant ward at NSU Manhasset.
"When our patients are hospitalized, it is not uncommon for he or she to feel disconnected from the world. A majority of the patients who are admitted need to be in isolation for weeks at a time and having access to the internet is a vital part of them staying connected to the people in their lives. Receiving the generous donation of beautiful laptops from Kerberos will allow our patients who do not have their own personal computer to stay in touch and explore the internet. They even donated webcams so our patients can skype their loved ones! We are so grateful."
